Genetic testing has long been synonymous with the haute bourgeoisie. With the price tag of from tens to hundreds of thousands, it is clearly out of the reach of most people, with only a handful willing to splurge on said service. Prevention of diseases (which requires the use of genetic testing) however, has been gaining momentum and is the general trend of modern medicine as opposed to curing the aftereffects. This has uncovered a previously non-critical problem – the need to extend genetic testing to the mass public. The startup team of Intel I2R Batch 5, has successfully developed a hardware optimization for genetic testing. Intel® FPGA + CPU heterogeneous system instead of the traditional method, you can shorten the detection time to about 10% of the traditional system.
